The course

What You’ll Learn

Six modules that follow the order the work itself is planned, then a short online assessment.

01

Introduction to Safe Planning

What makes a space “confined”, how ordinary work can create one, and the six specified risks that turn an enclosed space into a killer.

02

Legal Requirements

The legal duties placed on employers, on those in control of the work, and on the people who enter.

03

Risk Assessment

Assessing the space, the task and the people before entry: hazards, who could be harmed, existing safeguards and what has to improve.

04

Control Measures: Part One

Avoiding entry altogether, then building the safe system of work — access and escape, ventilation, equipment, testing and isolation.

05

Control Measures: Part Two

Residues, purging and ventilation, ignition sources, gas lines and hoses, PPE, fire prevention and using a permit to work.

06

Emergency Arrangements

Rescue plans that exist before entry: raising the alarm, rescue and resuscitation equipment, first aid and working with the emergency services.

Our 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not happy with the course, email us within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason. Your statutory cancellation rights. Under Book VI of the Belgian Code of Economic Law you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. Because this course is digital content supplied immediately, that statutory right ends once you expressly consent to immediate access and acknowledge that you will lose the withdrawal right — you are asked to confirm both at checkout before the course opens. The guarantee above is offered voluntarily in addition to those rights and does not restrict them.

The assessment

How the Assessment Works

The assessment only asks about what the six modules cover — nothing you have not been taught.

01

Finish the six modules

Work through each module at your own pace. Your progress is saved, so you can stop and come back later.

02

Take the online assessment

20 multiple-choice questions on what the modules cover. The answers are marked instantly.

03

Pass with 16 out of 20

That is the pass mark. If you fall short, review the material and try again — retakes are free and unlimited.

The legal position

Training Duties in Belgium

In Belgium, every employer must give workers sufficient and appropriate information and training on safety and health at work. The duty comes from the Law of 4 August 1996 on the well-being of workers and the Code on well-being at work (Codex over het welzijn op het werk / Code du bien-être au travail), which implement the EU Framework Directive 89/391/EEC.

This online course covers general workplace safety principles, not tied to one country's legislation. It does not replace the workplace-specific instruction your employer or prevention adviser (preventieadviseur / conseiller en prévention) gives you.

Working on or near electrical installations? In Belgium that is covered by the AREI / RGIE and the BA4 / BA5 rules — see our BA4 Electrical Safety course.

Can I do the whole course on my phone?+

Yes. The modules and the assessment work on a phone, tablet or computer, and your progress is saved as you go.

What if the course is not what I expected?+

Email us within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason. This is our own guarantee, offered on top of your statutory rights rather than instead of them.
